Fingerprinting & Background Checks
In State Fingerprint Checks
Any resident of the Borough of Tinton Falls requiring fingerprinting may come to Police Headquarters during normal business hours. Although an appointment is not necessary, it is suggested that you call (732) 542-4422 before you come to ensure that someone is available to help you. In addition, we ask that applicants do not come on Tuesday due to court being in session.
The New Jersey State Police and MorphoTrak have entered into a partnership to provide automated fingerprint identification services to the citizens of New Jersey for most fingerprint requirements. As such, fingerprinting will require a trip to a MorphoTrak fingerprinting center so the applicant’s prints can be digitally taken. However in most cases, an applicant must first come to the Tinton Falls Police headquarters to pickup the appropriate MorphoTrak form. Without this form MorphoTrak will not take your prints. All application fees are paid directly to MorphoTrak. Applicants must come to Police Headquarters for the following fingerprints:
• Firearms Licensing
• Alcoholic Beverage Licensing
• Peddlers License
• Public Safety Volunteer
NOTE: Public Safety Volunteers applying to one of our fire departments or EMS squads can come directly to Police Headquarters for fingerprinting. There is no fee for this service and the fingerprints will be taken utilizing the department’s AFIS machine.
Individuals and employers can request criminal history fingerprint information not covered above by utilizing the following link to the New Jersey State Police website. Please follow the instructions provided for assistance in getting the background check needed.
Out of State / Federal Fingerprint Checks
MorphoTrak does not support out of state or federal background checks at this time. These applicants will need to supply the required fingerprint cards from the requesting authority. The Tinton Falls Police will then take your inked prints on the cards provided. There is no fee for this service.
