CONGRATULATIONS TO THE OPEN SPACE COMMITTEE!

On May 20, 2009, the Tinton Falls Open Space Committee was presented the Open Space Award from New Jersey Clean Communities in grateful appreciation for their contribution to a clean-green New Jersey.  The Open Space Committee wishes to acknowledge and thank Mayor Maclearie, the Borough Council, the Environmental Commission, the Historical Preservation Commission, the Boy Scouts, and all the dedicated community volunteers!

Mission

Open space is a valuable asset of our borough’s environment. Open space in a town can provide breathing room, areas of greenery and recreational areas for its inhabitants. Since the Borough of Tinton Falls is approaching a fully built up condition, it has become important to attempt to save some open space for the enjoyment of all. The Open Space Committee of Tinton Falls was created by the Borough Council to aid in the quest for open space to preserve.

The mission of the Open Space Committee is to survey the open space needs of Tinton Falls as expressed by various stakeholders, among which are recreation and schools, to discover and map those lands that still are present within the borough boundaries and that would be candidates for preservation, to discover what mechanisms may be utilized to preserve open space and what financial means are available to acquire open space.

The results of the activities of the Opens Space Committee will be documented and presented to the Borough council for their discussion and possible action.
