9-11 Memorial at Tinton Falls Fire Company #1
You're Invited
Friday, September 11th will mark the 8th anniversary of the cowardly attacks on the United States. Since December of 2001, we've had a WTC memorial at the Tinton Falls Firehouse and have held several anniversary events over several years.
We lost the original monuments late last December, victims of the elements, and temporary towers have been put in place while work is done to create a more lasting memorial. Regardless of the current state of the memorial, it remains a place for visitors to come and reflect, on the tragic attacks and how far we've come, personally and as a nation, since that fateful day.
This September 11th, the members of Tinton Falls Fire Co. #1 invite you to stop by any time. As Fire Company Chaplain, I will be on hand on Friday from about 8 AM until 10 AM or so. Nothing formal is planned, but you are welcome to join me there. You never know who is going to stop by. Past guests have included heroes from the FDNY, PAPD, and NYPD, our elected officials from the local level on up to the US Senate, and folks from all over the US and overseas. Some stay for a while, others stop briefly to leave photos or flowers or whatever they choose. That's one of the great things about the memorial site that Jared Stevens built in 2001- it gives us all a place to remember what happened and to never forget those we lost that day and in the wars since.
This year will be more low key than the 5th anniversary, I do hope you can stop by at some time. I thank you.
