The Department of Public Works hopes that the 24 hr. availability of our Recycling Facility was helpful to many residents by allowing them to bring storm damaged household items, extra trash, and tree branches at any time for these several weeks. We have returned now to our normal schedule with the facility open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.weekdays and Saturday from 7a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m..
Brush and branch collection now continues each month of the year according to our normal Zone schedule. Please remember that Zone 1 collections begin on the
first "full" week of each month (M-F), with zones 2, 3, and 4 beginning
the following successive Mondays. We must stress that Borough Ordinances require that brush be placed for collection not earlier than 7 days before scheduled collection dates and is to be placed adjacent to but never in the street. Our streets are safer, clogging of storm drains is reduced, and our street sweeper can do a much better job when these rules are followed.A DPW goal moving forward is to maintain cleaner roads with our street sweeper and your help will help us help you!
Thank you to all of our residents for being patient during the Irene Clean Up. DPW maintained a three fold increase in brush collection effort throughout these last several weeks and it was still a huge task! Bulk material collection was also expanded to include some items not normally collected to help our residents get rid of damaged materials. We ask now to please not place for bulk pick-up prohibited materials such a as bulk construction materials and bagged household trash. A complete list of prohibited materials is posted elsewhere on the Borough website.
Never hesitate to call on DPW with any concern you may have...
