2/11/2012 - Road Conditions for Tonight, February 11th

Throughout last evening and into today snow fell but did not accumulate on our streets. Temperatures and streets were very close to freezing, but by carefully monitoring  conditions throughout the night, DPW was able to avoid salting during these hours. This saved thousands of dollars in materials and overtime.

For tonight , however, it seems certain that temps will fall well below freezing sometime between 7 and 10 p.m.The question becomes: Will the streets be dry by then? DPW will continue to monitor the conditions and will decide by 6 p.m. whether to send out the salt trucks.

Either way, DPW wants you to know we are watching out for your safety. And we urge you to drive with caution this evening. Extra caution, that is...

Please watch out for slippery sidewalks, driveways, and your front porch, too!
