Scouting Highlights:
Tinton Falls Boy Scout Troop 124 has been working closely with the Open Space Committee. Through the guidance of Open Space Committee Chairman, Guy Buck, and Scoutmaster, Tim Anderson, the scouts have created miles of walking trails throughout Tinton Falls and have also been part of the restoration process of the Historical Crawford House. Eagle Scout Colin du Bois created a walking trail off of Riverdale Avenue West, while at the same time Eagle Scout Dominic DeBonis created his trail at Liberty Park II on West Park Avenue. During the ongoing restoration process of the Historical Crawford House on Tinton Avenue, Stanley DeLage was able to have 90 % of the needed electrical work put in place while Joe Anderson works on the trail around the back property of the Crawford House.
The Troop is chartered by the Lutheran Memorial Church on Tinton Avenue. They meet weekly on Monday evenings at 7:30 and they go on monthly camping outings. In March they went down to Citta Scout Reservation in Barnegat where they learned gun safety and they all had a chance to shoot some rounds. In April they went to Quail Hill Scout Reservation in Manalapan where they honored their younger scout cub scout “brothers” as they moved up to the Boy Scout level. In May, the Troop will be going on a canoeing and hiking trip on the Mullica River in South Jersey. In July Troop 124 goes to Summer Camp at Monmouth Council of Boy Scouts Scout Reservation in Forestburg, New York. Here they earn a variety of merit badges as they learn how to cook and basically take care of themselves for a week under scoutmaster supervision. Troop 124 is a family oriented troop and they always welcome the participation of their families. Tinton Falls Troop 124 has always been an active Troop in Tinton Falls since their original Chartering in 1969.
