Tinton Falls Honors Stacey Slowinski as 2026 Citizen of the Year
TINTON FALLS, NJ – The Borough of Tinton Falls is proud to recognize Stacey Slowinski as its 2026 Citizen of the Year, honoring more than three decades of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to preserving the history and strengthening the fabric of the community.
Presented during the Borough Council meeting, the Citizen of the Year award recognizes individuals whose volunteerism and service have made a lasting impact on the community. Stacey's contributions to Tinton Falls span generations and touch nearly every aspect of civic life.
Since 1990, Stacey has served as Chairman of the Historic Preservation Commission, helping protect and preserve the Borough's historic sites and ensuring that Tinton Falls maintains its unique character and sense of place. In 1999, she was appointed Borough Historian, a role through which she has carefully documented and shared the stories of the people, places, and events that shaped the community.
One of Stacey's most significant accomplishments has been her leadership at the historic Crawford House. In 2009, she founded the Friends of the Crawford House, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring and preserving the landmark property. Through her vision, persistence, and tireless efforts, the Crawford House has been transformed into a vibrant center for education, history, and community engagement.
"Stacey's dedication to Tinton Falls is truly extraordinary," said Mayor Risa Clay. "For decades, she has worked quietly and tirelessly to preserve our history, strengthen our community, and create opportunities for residents of all ages to learn, connect, and serve. Her impact can be seen throughout our Borough, and her legacy will continue to benefit generations to come."
Beyond her work in historic preservation, Stacey has devoted countless hours to supporting the Tinton Falls Library, local schools, scouting organizations, PTA programs, music programs, community gardens, and numerous civic initiatives. She has mentored young people, guided Eagle Scout projects, encouraged volunteerism, and helped bring residents together through educational and community programs.
Known for her humility, kindness, and unwavering commitment to public service, Stacey has consistently placed the needs of the community above her own, never seeking recognition but always willing to lend her time, talents, and leadership wherever needed.
"What makes Stacey so deserving of this recognition is not only the length of her service, but the lasting impact of it," Mayor Clay added. "She has helped preserve our past while strengthening our future. Tinton Falls is a better community because of her dedication."
The Borough Council and residents of Tinton Falls extend their sincere gratitude and congratulations to Stacey Slowinski on being named the 2026 Citizen of the Year.
