Public Works Department Information

Garbage Collection - Garbage Collection is done on Monday and Tuesday each week. If you are not sure of your Garbage Collection day, click the Zone Sheet link here to determine your specific Garbage Collection day.

Recycling Collection - If your garbage collection day is Monday, your recycling collection day is the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. If your garbage day is Tuesday, your recycling day is the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month.  If you are not sure of your Recycling Collection day, click the Zone Sheet link here to determine your specific Recycling Collection day.

Branches, Brush, and Leaf Collection - Brush and branches are picked up once a month by zone. Leaves are only collected in May and November. When setting out brush, branches, or leaves, please place them in front of your property but not in the roadway or street. Keep in mind, only brush up to 6 inches in diameter and no longer than 5 feet in length will be collected. Brush mixed with foreign materials such as bamboo, stumps, roots, leaves, grass, lumber, or oversized material will not be collected. This service is for tree and shrub prunings only. This is NOT a land clearing or tree removal service. No more than 5 cubic yards of brush (approximately 4' high x 4' wide x 10' long) may be placed per property for each collection. Brush must not be placed besides poles, bushes, mailboxes, vehicles, etc. If the brush is not accessible by the collection machinery, it will not be picked up. If you are not sure of your Brush Collection week, click the Zone Sheet link here to determine your Brush Collection week.

Ord. 15-7.7 Prohibited Materials
The following items are prohibited from being placed for collection:

- Grass Clippings
- Tree Trunks larger than six inches in diameter
- Tree stumps of any size
- Branches longer than five feet in length
- Yard waste commingled with refuse or litter

Our pickup routes start very early in the morning. Even if route times are consistent, something may change at any given time, causing collection schedules to be sooner or later than expected. It is recommended that you place your can(s) at the curb the night before your scheduled collection day.

Our trucks need sufficient space to lift Garbage and Recycling cans safely and effectively. Therefore, residents must place their cans 6 feet apart from other objects such as mailboxes, cars, etc. Additionally, cans must be placed at least 3 feet apart from each other. If there is not enough space for the truck to safely life the can, we cannot guarantee your Garbage or Recycling with be collected and you will need to drop it off at the Recycling Yard. Items placed at the curb become Borough property and only the Borough may collect them. Recyclables will not be collected if placed in plastic bags.

Cancellations Due to Severe Weather
During severe weather, Borough Hall may close and garbage and/or recycling collection may be cancelled. If there is a cancellation, it will be posted on the website and an RSS Feed for "DPW News & Bulletins" will be sent out via Code Red.
Please do not call the Police Department to find out about cancellations. We need to keep the police lines open for emergencies.
