On May 29, 2024, the Borough of Tinton Falls received a $20,000 grant from Sustainable Jersey and PSE&G Foundation to develop an Environmental Resource Inventory (ERI) for our community. The Borough was awarded this grant due to the efforts put forth by the volunteers on Tinton Falls  Environmental Commission.

The grant presentation took place at The College of New Jersey and TFEC members- Ellen Goldberg, Barbara Kulberg, and Tatiana  Swenda, along with Borough Administrator Charles Terefenko attended the event and were presented with the award.Councilwoman Tracy Buckley, a member of the TFEC was unable to attend this event, however Ms. Buckley was instrumental in the application process for this grant.

An ERI provides foundational documentation for assessing and addressing resource protection issues. It acts as an objective catalog and description of environmental features and their functions. Recognizing significant environmental resources is the initial step in their protection and conservation, ensuring that future development or redevelopment efforts promote public health, safety, and welfare.
